The gourmet food shop I owned and managed in Oklahoma City was Cravings, Inc. It was a wonderful business and it was sad when I needed to shut it down. After all, 18 hour days, 7 days a week was too much after 9 years!
At Cravings we had deli cases filled with carryout food: sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas, casserole dishes, and on and on.
This is an incident that happened one day: A man and woman came in the shop and ordered our “Champagne Breakfast in Bed” consisting of breakfast items and a bottle of champagne. They would pick it up the next morning.
Before they left, they ordered two bowls of Bloody Mary Soup that was always on our menu during the Christmas Holidays.
The next morning they arrived as soon as the shop opened and asked for their Champagne Breakfast. My assistant manager let them know their ticket amount and as soon as the money was exchanged, they told him he was under arrest.
They were ATF officers arresting him and then me!!! Arrested for selling liquor without a license!
They wanted to take my alcohol out of the walk-in that was used in pastries and cakes. I told them they would need to get a search warrant and I needed to make a call.
So, I was in jail about 3 hours until my attorney bailed me out. All charges were dropped and the ATF agents were reprimanded.
